Major Electric, Inc. – Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Major Electric, Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By requesting an estimate, scheduling a service call, authorizing work, enrolling in a maintenance plan, or utilizing our electrical, IT, or solar services, you (“Client”) agree to the following Terms and Conditions.

1. Estimates & Scope of Work All estimates are valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issuance. Estimates are based on a visual inspection and the information provided by the Client. The scope of work is strictly limited to the items explicitly listed in the approved estimate or service agreement.

2. Service Calls & Diagnostic Fees All troubleshooting, inspection, and repair visits are subject to a minimum initial diagnostic fee. This fee covers the technician’s travel, initial assessment, and basic troubleshooting time. This fee is strictly non-refundable regardless of whether the Client chooses to proceed with the recommended repairs.

3. Hidden Conditions, Permits, & Code Upgrades

  • Hidden Conditions: Electrical and infrastructure work often involves opening walls, ceilings, or navigating attics. If hidden structural issues or hazardous conditions (e.g., knob-and-tube wiring, asbestos, degraded insulation) are discovered, work may be temporarily halted. Any required repairs outside the original scope will require a written Change Order.

  • City-Mandated Upgrades: For major projects such as Panel Upgrades or Home Rewires, municipal inspectors may require additional, unforeseen code upgrades (e.g., updated grounding/bonding, interconnected smoke detectors) to grant a final permit. The Client is financially responsible for any additional labor or materials required to meet these inspector mandates.

4. Payment Terms, Deposits & Subscriptions

  • Deposits: In accordance with California state law, a down payment for installation projects may not exceed $1,000 or 10% of the total contract price, whichever is less, before work commences.

  • Progress & Final Payments: Progress payments may be required upon the completion of specific milestones. The remaining balance is due immediately upon project completion or successful municipal final inspection.

  • Recurring Services: For clients enrolled in recurring maintenance or cleaning plans, billing will occur automatically based on the agreed-upon schedule. Subscriptions may be canceled at any time with a 30-day written notice.

  • Late Fees: Past due balances may be subject to a late fee of 1.5% per month.

5. Workspace Access & Temporary Equipment

  • Site Access: The Client agrees to provide clear, safe, and unhindered access to the property, electrical panels, server racks, and roof access points during scheduled service hours. We are not responsible for moving heavy furniture or clearing cluttered spaces.

  • Temporary Power Poles: For construction sites requiring temporary power poles, the Client or General Contractor is solely responsible for the physical security of the equipment. Any damage, vandalism, or theft of temporary electrical equipment while on-site is the financial responsibility of the Client.

6. Drywall, Patching, & Painting Routing new, code-compliant circuitry or networking cables often requires selective cutting of drywall, plaster, or stucco. Unless explicitly itemized in the accepted estimate, Major Electric, Inc. is not responsible for any drywall patching, texturing, priming, or painting. These finish repairs are strictly the financial and physical responsibility of the Client.

7. Warranties & Exclusions

  • Craftsmanship: We provide a 1-Year Warranty on all installation labor and Contractor-supplied infrastructure materials.

  • Tamper / Void Clause: This warranty is immediately voided if any circuitry, paneling, devices, or equipment installed by our firm are altered, tampered with, or modified by the homeowner, a handyman, another contractor, or any unauthorized third party.

  • Customer-Supplied Hardware: We provide absolutely NO warranty, implied or expressed, on fixtures, devices, fans, or specialized equipment supplied directly by the Client. Any labor required to troubleshoot or replace defective customer-supplied equipment will be billed at standard hourly rates.

8. EV Charging & High-Continuous Draw Equipment For continuous-load applications such as Electric Vehicle (EV) charging, we strictly recommend and install industrial-grade receptacles. Major Electric, Inc. assumes no liability for thermal damage, melted components, or fires caused by the use of standard/commercial-grade receptacles supplied by the Client or utilized against our professional recommendation.

9. IT, Networking, Smart Home, & Security Cameras

  • Smart Home & IT Setup: Standard installation covers physical wiring and basic power-on testing. Advanced homeowner app setup, complex network configuration, and schedule programming are not included in base installation and will be billed at our standard hourly rates.

  • Remote IT Support: By requesting remote IT support, the Client grants Major Electric, Inc. explicit permission to access their systems remotely. We are not liable for pre-existing malware, software corruption, or hardware failures.

  • Security Cameras & Surveillance: We install security cameras based on Client direction. Major Electric, Inc. is not liable for network dropouts causing missed recordings, camera blind spots, local data storage failures, or any legal issues arising from camera placement and privacy laws. The Client is solely responsible for backing up all footage and data.

10. Solar Panel Cleaning & Roof Maintenance

  • Pre-Existing Damage: Prior to cleaning, our technicians perform a visual assessment. Major Electric, Inc. is not liable for pre-existing damage to solar panels (e.g., micro-cracks, degraded seals), roofing materials, or structural integrity.

  • Weather Delays: Solar cleaning services are contingent upon safe weather conditions. We reserve the right to reschedule recurring or one-time cleanings due to rain, high winds, or extreme heat without penalty.

11. Licensing, General Liability, & Contracts Major Electric, Inc. is a fully licensed, bonded, and insured C-10 Electrical Contractor in the State of California (License #1103004). We maintain comprehensive general liability and workers’ compensation insurance. Note: For residential improvement projects exceeding $500, a formal California Home Improvement Contract containing all state-mandated disclosures will be provided to the Client and shall govern the specific execution of the project.

12. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California. Any disputes arising from these terms shall first be subject to good-faith mediation prior to legal escalation.
